if ralsei really is transfem then I hope we get at least one transmasc character too. We have several non-binary characters in the undertale universe, several lesbians, a few gays, a robot who may or may not be gay but is fabulous, and a transfem or two, but no transmascs? Imma be disappointed if by chapter 7 we have no transmasc characters.

Mettaton is transmasc actually.

i’m gonna say what i said on tumblr but sum it up. i suppose the better thing for me to say would’ve been that transmasc representation would be nice. if, by the end of chapter 7, ralsei says “i think i’m actually a girl” then it’d be nice if someone said “i’m ftm”. its one thing to have a character who has a strong headcanon for being transmasc, and another to have a character that outright says it and represents the experience. we aren’t quite there yet with ralsei, so it’s a bit too soon to tell, but the same thing happened with TADC. gooseworx said that jax used “she/her” pronouns, and they have some moments that seem like it may represent the transfem experience. but in the cirus we have a non-binary character and lesbians, but no transmascs. just feels underrepresented in media. like, we haven’t really seen mettaton in deltarune yet. if he’s transmasc then that doesn’t really feel equal to ralsei’s representation.
i hope this doesn’t come off as too argumentative, i just want transmasc representation to be equal to transfem representation, and not feel like an afterthought. it’s frustrating that transmascs often feel left behind in media representation-
Uh okay? So to be clear I haven't played deltarune yet, just chapter 1.
I figured I'd wait til it had a proper ending before playing all chapters because my long term memory isn't good. And because my long term memory isn't that good I'm open to being told I'm clearly wrong and why, but as I recall mettaton is napstablooks cousin, a female ghost given a masculine body, personality and pronouns. And if I'm remembering right he had a big hand in designing his new body. However it's possible I'm making an assumption.
All that said, I honestly don't understand your reply. It's not that it feels overly argumentative, it's just that you said "in the undertale universe" or something to that effect, and now you're talking about whether or not something is in deltarune and I just don't get your point.
But as far as I'm aware there is a transmasc character in undertale.

i suppose i just worded the original post poorly, that’s on me.

I definitely don't know what you mean by "equal" you want the same number of characters with each identity in each story? Cus that sounds like tokenization imo.
Mettaton is post transition so his story is going to be told differently and have a different emphasis than a character who hasn't transitioned yet. And he's pretty obsessed with himself so I honestly can barely imagine him even being supportive to someone else going through what he went through. I don't think having a character who doesn't want to talk about their past like that is making the identity an afterthought, it feels like someone actually designing a specific character who is trans who also isn't *just* a vehicle for the delivery of representation ie not a tokenized character.

@ally@allykotetsu.com Ive seen Tenna used as a transmasc icon but I dunno if thats like a popular headcannon or what

Ig. But like. Its one thing to have a character who’s confirmed transfem (in the event that happens) and actually represents the transfem experience and another character that’s just a TV who might be headcanoned as transmasc. I think if you have to result to headcanoning a TV then maybe the representation doesn’t exist and should.
