I think we might see the existence of online radqueer communities become a hot button political topic in the upcoming years. (I mainly mean MAP stuff, as that’s what gets the most attention, but I don’t like singling out MAP politics from the rest of radqueer)

Between the Jim Thorton situation, and the Genevieve Gluck tweet, and any number of other headline-worthy stories involving online radqueer spaces, as our community grows its very likely that we’ll see the existence of our spaces become political topics, especially framing age verification, social media bans, etc. No longer will these be underground social spaces, but we’ll be thrust into the spotlight, for politicians, lawmakers, and influencers to gnaw on everything we do and say.

When this happens we need to be able to represent ourselves. If legislation gets introduced banning radqueer websites from existing, then we need to make a real effort to stop it. That means protesting, giving testimonials in courtrooms, etc.

And if it does get passed, then we need to be able to let our community thrive without the internet. And that’s going to be much easier to kick off before the bans happen, as opposed to after them.
